| Abstract | This dataset contains the numerical data underlying the manuscript “Apparent density distribution of radioactive cesium-rich microparticles in soils contaminated by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident.” It includes sampling information for surface soils collected at Ottozawa and Omaru in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan; autoradiography calibration data used for CsMP classification and activity quantification; CsMP counts and particle proportions for density fractions obtained by gravitational separation using sodium polytungstate solutions; gravimetric measurements of the heavy-liquid solutions; and numerical data used for settling-time calculations, ideal-mixture density calculations, closed-void and composition sensitivity analyses, and atmospheric settling and aerodynamic-diameter calculations. The apparent density distributions of CsMPs were determined from particle counts in the separated density fractions. The detected CsMPs were distributed predominantly around 2.4 g cm-3 at both sampling sites. This dataset is provided to support reproducibility and further quantitative analyses of the physical properties, transport, and deposition behavior of Fukushima-derived CsMPs. | |
